Bristol Cabot Choir are pleased to announce the appointment of a new Director of Music, Rebecca Holdeman.
A current member of the BBC National Chorus of Wales, Rebecca has been a chorister since childhood, when she sang in many church choirs and on RCSM courses. She studied music at Kingston and Bristol Universities before working for nearly 6 years as Head of Music in St Bernadette Catholic Secondary School, where she helped to develop choral and orchestral programmes that ran alongside the music curriculum.
She has conducted many choirs including the North Avon Singers (Bristol), Royal Welsh College: First Study Singers (Cardiff), St Mary Redcliffe Occasional Choir, and Kingston University Chamber Choir. She has also assisted the conductors in preparing the choruses of Cardiff Polyphonic choir and BBC National Chorus of Wales. She has taken part in choral conducting master-classes with Simon Halsey and Eric Whitacre.
Rebecca is currently studying for an MA in Choral Conducting at the Royal Welsh College of Music and Drama. She is also co- director of St Mary Redcliffe Occasional choir, a music teacher at St Brendan’s Sixth form college and a freelance piano and voice coach. Her last notable musical adventure was singing in Verdi’s Requiem at the 2011 Proms.
